SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Observe the following safety instructions and perform all installation steps carefully and completely, as failure to do so may lead to damage to materials, the vehicle or personal injury. Installation should only be carried out by a professional workshop!

  2. Check whether the installation of heating mats is possible:
    a) In the case of seats with bonded upholstery, installation may be complicated or impossible.
    (b) If the seat has longitudinal grooves, fitting is not possible.
    c) If the centre section of the seat is less than 270 mm wide, installation is not possible as the mats must end before the side grooves.

  3. The vehicle manufacturer's recommendations for seat occupancy sensors must be taken into account!

  4. Take note of the vehicle manufacturer's recommendations for seat belt pretensioners!

  5. Take into account the vehicle manufacturer's recommendations for seat-back airbags!
    (a) Upholstery and stitching must not be modified.
    (b) Heating mats may only be placed in the centre of the seat foam.

  6. Check the vehicle's electrical diagram to ensure that the electrical installation and wire cross sections are suitable for the additional current load.

  7. Check that there is a suitable place to mount the switch.

  8. Use only the original components supplied!

  9. Heating mats must not be cut to width. Longitudinal cuts are not permitted. Only narrow transverse cuts and shortening of the mat at the end opposite the wires are possible! (Fig. 1)

  10. Heating mats can be laid across the grooves in the seat foam, but the edges of the cut-outs must end in front of the grooves.

  11. Carbon fibres must not come into contact with conductive components such as upholstery buckles or the seat frame. The edges of the cut-outs must be insulated with fabric tape.

  12. Do not damage the electrodes when making cross cuts. Maintain a minimum distance of 40 mm from the side edges. (Fig. 2)

  13. Carbon fibres protruding by several millimetres must not come into contact with conductive components. Contact with tension wires in a compressed state must also be avoided!

  14. The heating mats must be securely fastened (e.g. with suitable spray adhesive) and installed without folds, as otherwise there is a risk of fire!

  15. Ensure that the heating elements are not damaged during installation (e.g. by upholstery buckles, tools or sharp edges of the seat frame).

  16. When bonding the heating mats, the surface must be free of silicone, grease and dust. Full adhesive strength is achieved after adequate pressure and curing time - usually several hours. A fully installed heating mat must not be peeled off and reassembled.

  17. Ensure that the seat can be moved freely in the guides when laying and fixing cables!

  18. Avoid contact of the wires with sharp edges, kinks in the wires and stress on the wires so as not to damage the insulation!

  19. Save the fugitive memory codes (radio, navigation, etc.) and disconnect the vehicle battery before electrical work!

  20. The heating temperature may vary depending on the seat material and upholstery.

  21. In the event of a fault, check the fuse first!

  22. When handing over the vehicle to the customer, explain the operating principles and safety aspects.
